I had an awesome time interviewing Unloco and was very lucky to be able to sit down with the entire group! We all cracked up quite a few times during the interview. I would say that a good time was had by all! So read on and for more information check out their website at Unloco.

jo: How is it touring with Ozzfest?

Joey: It’s a lot of work, I mean it’s fun and pretty well put together, but man it’s a lot of work.

Pete: A whole day thing…

jo: How does it compare to the Disturbed tour?

Joey: The Disturbed tour was very cushy. You know, you hang out, you play for about 20-30 minutes, then done for the night, by like 7:00 each night.

Marc: (Laughs) You had all day to sleep off your hangovers and relax, you know (group laughs). Here we are up at 7:00 or 9:00 sometimes and we go to bed the same we would any other tour.

Pete: It’s pretty brutal!

jo: Still doing offset?

Joey: Yes, last night was Long Island.

jo: Tomorrow too?

Joey: No

Pete: We are off, finally.

jo: What were some of the influences on your songs?

Joey: Human life, in general.

Pete: Everything that had been happening in the previous cycle, the last year of our lives.

jo: How do you like being in the studio?

Joey: Fun, comfortable, work hard.

Pete: Fun, but we still work hard, we are pretty much a producer’s dream. Because, we go in there, we work and we get it done. We havemore time to play after. (laughs)

jo: How do you feel about Marilyn Manson being banned in some states?

Pete: I think it’s cool! (laughs) In a way, cause I like the way he goes over the top & if certain states can’t handle it, well...(laughs)

jo: Does it change your stage performance in anyway?

Pete: No.

Joey: Not at all.

jo: On this ozzfest tour, what has been the wildest experience?

Joey: It’s still going on!

jo: Nothing yet?

Marc: Nothing like super significant, there’s been a few things here and there.

Pete: With crazy shit going on everyday it is hard to separate.

Marc: (laughs) yea, sometimes we are there for it, sometimes we hear about it later. Sometimes, you know, once we get the story it is always over embellished.

jo: Do you have any advice for bands trying to break into the industry?

Marc: Don’t stop.

Pete: Go to school.

Joey: Don’t suck. (group laughs)

Vic: (yells) Don’t do it!!

jo: In one word, can you describe your music?

Marc: energy, high energy, energetic…

jo: What do you think of the state of the music industry right now?

Joey: It needs to be saved, it needs a saving grace

jo: Too much pop?

Joey: You never know, one day it might collapse. It exploded in a technology sort of sense, but I think the industry itself hasn’t really opened its eyes…I think it is just the same old, same old.

jo: What bands could we find you watching on this tour?

Marc: Chimaira

Pete: Memento, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, Nothingface, all of them actually…pretty much most of them. Sometimes we don’t get to see Cradle of Filth and Voivod.

jo: How do you prepare for your shows?

Pete: Wake up (group laughs), are my drums set up yet? Everybody warms up a little bit, stretch out…

Marc: Stretch out, drink a Red Bull.

Pete: yea, that’s our coffee, drink a lot of water.

jo: Looking ahead to the future, what do you see happening for you in the next five years?

Joey: I don’t know.

Pete: Hopefully our made for tv movie, an epic saga.

jo: If you could meet any artist/star, who would it be and why?

Marc: Living or dead?

jo: Yes

Pete: Hmm, that’s a tough one.

Pete: I wanna meet Elvis.

jo: Elvis? Ok

Marc: Kurt Cobain

Vic: Jeff Buckley

Joey: Bruce Lee, I don’t wanna get my ass kicked again. (group laughs)

jo: Yea, I wasn’t going to ask you about that. Was that here in Camden?

Joey: No, it was in West Virginia

jo: Who would you like to work with in the future?

Pete: Dr. Dre, I dunno.

Joey: Trent Reznor, I would like to see what kind of crap he would drag out of us.

Pete: He might try to put some crap into you too (laughs).

jo: Have there been any embarrassing moments?

Joey: everyday (group laughs).

jo: Do you have a message for your fans?

Pete: Please buy the records! Keep coming to our shows…

Marc: we love the energy that the fans bring to us when we play; please keep coming.

jo: If you were a cartoon character, who would you be and why?

Pete: Taz, everybody calls me the Tasmanian Devil (laughs)

Marc: Joey, who do you wanna be?

Joey: I don’t know, I think I wanna be a Transformer (group laughs).

jo: I can see that!

Marc: What is that dog? Droopy Dog? Is that his name? I’m so happy, oh boy…

Pete: Vic can be Wonder Woman…(laughs)

Vic: The Hulk, because he is cool now.

Pete: I think you would be Dr. Quest….

Joey: a Powerpuff girl (group laughs)

Pete: Rainbow Brite (group laughs)

Pete: you’re Fred from Scooby Doo…

What cds are you currently listening to?

Pete: The yellow album

Marc: Revolution Smile, Nothingface

jo: Who do you think the heaviest band right now is?

Pete: on this tour?

jo: In general...

Pete: I don’t even know.

Marc: Chimaira is pretty fuckin heavy.

Pete: yea, Chimaira.

Pete: Tangeria; they are like a jazz, funk, metal core kind of band

Marc: They got a lot of stuff going on

Pete: They are pretty heavy

jo: Ok, I think that is about it. Thanks!

Joey: Cool, we appreciate it!

I really enjoy this band and thank them for takin the time out of their busy schedule to sit down with me!
