Kristin chats with Ryan before their set.
KRISTIN-" Hi how are you."
RYAN- "Good, Good are you from Philly?"
KRISTIN- "No, I am from Jersey."
RYAN- "Oh so you'll be at the show tomorrow night at the
Starland?"
KRISTIN- laughs," In this month's Blender they have an ad of you guys in
the promotional section with the headline of Meet the most popular band you've
never heard of...yet!"
RYAN- "Yeah I saw it, it was pretty awesome.
KRISTIN- "Where do you see yourself in five years?"
RYAN- "Five years? You never really know where you'll be
in five years. It's really up to patience. Hopefully things will be going well."
KRISTIN- "yeah"
RYAN- But right now the single is climbing...
KRISTIN- "Yeah that's good."
RYAN- "It's pretty good.
KRISTIN- " When you guys all went to Orlando to record make a dent, How
did it feel to be there recording your music?
RYAN- "It was amazing to record Make a Dent. My parents
paid for the demo and working with Brett Hestla that was a dream of ours we had
sat around actually talking about how awesome it would be to actually work with
Brett Hestla (from the band Dark New Day) Then I called Seth our manager up and
that was it we drove in a Dodge pickup, all five of us, the whole band in a
Dodge pick up truck all they way to Orlando."
KRISTIN- "Was your first single Letting you go?"
RYAN- "Our first single is actually Take it all away."
KRISTIN- 'What was it like to hear that played on the radio the first
time?
RYAN- "I haven't heard it on the radio yet but I heard it
on Syrus."
KRISTIN- "I read on your Myspace page that you guys try and take the time
to answer each and every fan's email. Has is become overwhelming?"
RYAN- Always. It's really become overwhelming. I mean a
couple days ago for example I went on and checked everything, a few hours later
I go on and we have like 20 pages filled within a few hours.
KRISTIN- "Myspace is addictive, I am always on there."
RYAN- "I love Myspace. I tell everyone I'm a Myspace
whore! For the longest time everyone else was on myspace and I was the one that
wouldn't get on. Next thing you know I started my own page and I am like
checking my page all the time "
KRISTIN- "Yeah it gives you something to do. Are you into any of the new
music that is out there now like My Chemical Romance, Avenged Sevenfold, or
Funeral for a Friend?"
RYAN- "All of them actually. A lot of people um Fall Out
Boy...
KRISTIN- " I like them."
RYAN- "A lot of people are like I don't like that band,
but I love them. I haven't seen them live..
KRISTIN- I keep trying to get at them but their getting so popular now
that it's not looking to good."
RYAN- "Yea they've totally blown up. Myspace I believe had
a lot to do with it. Also that band Evans Blue, have you guys ever heard of
them.
KRISTIN- "I don't think so."
RYAN- "I've only heard their one song but ..."
KRISTIN - "What was the first concert you ever went to and what was it
like?
RYAN- "My first rock concert was Aerosmith and The Black
Crows. I love The Black Crows. When I saw them I was in like 6th, 5th grade. And
at that time Aerosmith they were cleaning up and they wouldn't even allow the
Venue to sell beer. They went thru that whole we don't do drugs. Not that
there's anything wrong with that. "
KRISTIN- "Nah, How old were you when you decided you wanted to be
involved in the music business?"
RYAN- "Always been, like seeing big bands and being like
aww me too man."
KRISTIN- "Yea, I love Kiss, I have my Gene tattoo on my hip." laughs
RYAN- "I've never seen Kiss live. But I was a waiter once
and as a tip this lady was going to give me Kiss tickets the only thing was I
had to go with her."
KRISTIN- "Oh..."
RYAN- "It was a little creepy."
KRISTIN- " Was she hot?"
RYAN- "Nah"
KRISTIN- "Well that's why you didn't go." Laughs
RYAN- Laughs "It was just the fact that I had never met
her before."
KRISTIN- "They do put on a good show."
RYAN- "Yea it was on their reunion tour, it would of been
awesome."
KRISTIN- "If you could tour with any band who would it be?"
RYAN- "Dark New Day.Yeah Brett actually co produced of our
album"
KRISTIN- "I was just going to ask you about that. Did they discover you
or..?"
RYAN- "When we recorded Make a Dent it was with him. And
then we went back and recorded another 3 song demo with them. Our deal was we
wanted to go back to them we didn't want to go to some other producer.
KRISTIN- "Yeah Brett got on the stage at Seether and sang Man in the Box
by Alice in Chains. He sounded just like him.
RYAN- "He's awesome, he can sound so much like Layne
Stanley it's amazing. He is one of my favorite vocalists. That's why it was
amazing"
KRISTIN- "What was the most amazing moment on this tour so far?"
RYAN- "I don't think I can talk about it. laughs I am just
kidding."
KRISTIN- "Hey, I'll shut this thing off and you can tell me all about
it." Laughing
RYAN- " I mean well we're on the girls gone wild tour so
it's been really crazy. Just last night was crazy. Every night has been crazy."
KRISTIN- "I knew I should of started a band.."
RYAN- "I have a story it's about me it's not bad just
embarrassing. Just a stupid thing I did. Onstage I got onstage and for some
reason well we were in Connecticut and I decided to ask what Cincinnati what's
up."
KRISTIN- "laughs awe man the wrong place."
RYAN- "It was pretty bad.
KRISTIN- "What message would you like to send out to your fans?"
RYAN- "We like to keep everything like family that's what
this band is all about and that's the main message that we're trying to get out
there and acceptance. That's one thing at our shows is the diversity of the
crowd. You'll see like a grand mom rockin out next to a skater and a fraternity
guy right in the middle. You know it's just a really unmatched crowd. But
everyone accepts one another. You won't see a lot of fights at our shows."
KRISTIN- "That's good. Fightings a pain in the ass"
RYAN- "Why, do you get into fights, I knew you were a wild
one?"
KRISTIN- "Ya think? Well thank you again for taking the time to speak
with us. I really appreciate it."
RYAN- "No... really thank you."
