VELVET REVOLVER @ The
Electric Factory 5/28/04
...And on the 8th day God created Scott Weiland.
Let's give credit where credit is due, Scott Weiland is the powerfully
explosive core of Velvet Revolver. Weiland is an amazing
artist/performer. He has an unmatchable stage presence completely taking
command of the stage. He IS the ultimate front man with the total
package: a fantastic voice, a state of constant sensual motion and very
easy on the eyes...talk about SEX appeal. Never having seen any of these
guys perform live, I was astonished with every aspect of the show down
to the stage lighting. The band was extremely tight, each of them adding
to the excitement of Velvet Revolver in their own way. Weiland's voice
was remarkable and his movements were so erotic I know every woman in
the place was weak in the knees! Weiland started the show wearing the
much too sexy silver pants from the "Slither" video, a black vest, a
pilot's hat and mirrored sunglasses. By the third song, it was just him
contorting around in those pants. I really enjoyed watching Duff and
Slash get high off of the crowd. You could just feel the energy level
from their excitement! Slash had the biggest shit eatin' grin on his
face the entire show! Duff was fantastic with the crowd, very smooth
while moving his chiseled body around the stage and making eye contact
with as many fans as he could. Set list: Sucker Train Blues, Do it for
the Kids, Head Space, Crackerman, Illegal I, It's So Easy, Fall to
Pieces, Big Machine, Set Me Free. Encore 1: Used to Love Her, Slither,
Sex Type Thing Encore 2: Mr. Brownstone, Negative Creep. My personal
favorite (though I loved every minute of the show!) was Suckertrain
Blues. Crowd went INSANE for Sex Type Thing, Crackerman, Mr. Brownstone
& It's So Easy. New songs were welcomed by the old and new fans with
loud shrieks of acceptance. Duff, Slash and Weiland all spoke to the
crowd, Weiland appeared to be a little more shy than I expected, but his
performance outweighs this tiny flaw. The sold out crowd was energetic
and FUN, lots of singing and horns held high!! I don't see them staying
in the intimate club atmosphere for very long. Can't wait for June 8th
to purchase and review "Contraband". Listen or watch the video for
"SLITHER" and stay on top of all things Velvet at their website. I
definitely want to catch this band again! I heard a lot of positive
comments during and after the show last night, two of which are stuck in
my mind: "Fuckin A right!, There's nothing wrong with that!!" & "Now
THAT is Rock n Roll!" I could not have said it better myself. Keep
rockin' guys!!! You put the ROCK back into ROCK n ROLL!!
