What can I say? Estradasphere is a work of art thru sound that has joined
us from Santa Cruz, Cali. It's hard to classify this music in any one category.
There is musical instruments ranging from accordions, guitar, bass, Jazz, violin
among a few others plus one I have never heard of myself... a Japanese Shamisen.
See I learn something new everyday. I also learned that there is a music genre
called Romanian Gypsy Death Metal and Estradasphere fits in there with the added
bonus of seemingly fitting into most musical categories that there are. They go
from the exquisite plucking of a violins strings, to beach blanket bingo then
off to music that you might hear sitting in the dentist chair-and this is in
just one song.
All songs on the "Palace of Mirrors" have amazingly different things going
on in each and every one of them.
It will open your eyes and mind to new music. Critics say that if you like
Metallica, or The Beach Boys...or like the thought of the two sounds molded
together, you'll adapt nicely to this CD. This crazy CD is a ride thru
generations of musical style and sound. So many different things came to mind as
I listened, James Bond, The Godfather, then there was this funky ass futuristic
sounding romp with parts you'd expect hear in a NIN or a Manson tune. It's
called "The Unfolding Pause On The Threshold."
My fiancé' is an artist and he heard me in here jamming to all these
eclectic pieces and was very taken with it so he wants to listen to it and
paint. I can only wonder what it would inspire to come thru his fingertips onto
his canvas. I practically worshipped the songs "Six Hands" and "Those Who
Know", now they were great spirit lifters. Estradasphere have managed to create
a magical, mysterious, voyage for you to enjoy thru these thirteen wondrous
tracks. I'll tell you something, this CD will be played by me for anyone that
is brave enough to step up and try something new. I went in to this thinking
that it would be some shitty CD to review, never was I so far off. I always
preach "Don't judge a book by it's cover" but that's exactly what I did at
first...but hey at least I admitted it and put it out there for all to
see.
