Billy Idol ~ Devil's Playground

When I think of Billy Idol, I immediately think the 80's.  The decade that made music that you could rock to, dance to, glam up to and more!  The decade that could and will never be again.  On Devil's Playground, Billy shows just how much he has evolved since then.

The first single, "Scream" is a lot heavier than what you expect from Billy Idol.  It starts with a famous "Ooooh Yeeeeeaaaaah", which gives Billy Idol away.  You just know by that little piece that this is Billy Idol.  The Billy that you remember from the "Rebel Yell" and "White Wedding" days.  Then you have these strong guitar riffs that surprise you. However, it has that great chorus that replays in your head all day long! Typical Billy Idol, here.  The CD gets you pumped, energized and rocking out with "Super Overdrive" and really doesn't have you coming down much.  "Romeo's Waiting" is a song that brings you to the present decade.  It has a little Sum 41 meets Bowling For Soup, believe it or not.  It has the strong chorus which has you singing along by the second chorus. A great fun song to listen to and one of my favorites.  My ultimate favorite song from Devil's Playground is "Plastic Jesus". The melody of this song is absolutely beautiful. In the break, I just sit back and enjoy the guitar playing in the background. "Body Snatcher" is a song that I would never think I would hear from Billy Idol.  It starts with the powerful guitar riff and heavy drumming and does not give till the end of the song. I found myself picking up my air guitar and imaginary drum sticks to completely rock out! Another great song off the album. The songs flow very nicely and by the end you are all set to repeat that CD because it is just so great.  Every song gets better and better.  By the end you definitely find yourself applauding Billy Idol for this album!

Billy Idol definitely proves that he and the music have definitely matured and changed with the times.  The CD is in heavy rotation and I truly don't see it moving out anytime soon.  Devil's Playground  is the best album to come out of 2005 so far.  I suggest you get your cute behind down to the record store to pick up this incredible piece of greatness!  You definitely won't be sorry.

Billy Idol is currently on tour and you can bet your ass I will definitely be at the May 27, 2005 show at The Borgata in Atlantic City, NJ and you should be too!
