Wow, I was hooked at first scream. A Static Lullaby's new self titled album
has charismatic grooves that roll as hard as punches. They managed to throw this
cd together in four short months, which I find incredible) and are currently on
tour.  If I didn't already have plans for Halloween (my favorite holiday!) I
would of headed over to Philly's First Unitarian Church to catch these
infectious fuckers firsthand. I covered "Taste of Chaos" at the Tweeter Center
in Camden NJ last year and yet somehow managed to miss A Static Lullaby- a big
bit of a disappointment I might add.
These guys have toured with some of my favorite bands like My Chemical
Romance, AFI and The Used. A Static Lullaby's first release "And Don't Forget To
Breathe" exploded onto the music scene giving people a taste of what they're all
about. They have survived inner band turmoil, a nasty split with two of their
previous members- and this is what I think gives this cd a swift kick in the
pants. Song "Mechanical Heart" has melodies amongst the emotional screams even
a little breakdown that kind of reminds you of a churches choir practice but
somehow it's still  remarkably cool.
"Stare At The Air" put me in an energized  mood that lasted thru out my
day, Contagious is a fittingly title for this tune because once you hear it your
hooked- it grows on you like that one song you hear on the radio that clings to
your brain, and even when you turn it off it's still in your friggin
head. All of the songs on here are head turners.
When the band had it's collapse with Columbia they thankfully found new
label Fearless Records, and the president Bob Becker sprung forth at the chance
to sign the band to his label. A Static Lullaby will have videos played on MTV
and Fuse. Get ready to be reintroduced to a band compelled to stay positive and
to fully focus on the future. I loved this cd and have already listened to it a
countless amount of times and know I will jump at the chance to see these guys
next time around, it's inevitable. I can just imagine what a powerful
performance they must give their audience, in the end they must be drained from
such energetic outbursts of passion and indifference. You'd be surprised at how
many emotional facets this cd showcases- it's a must buy. You need to run out
and grab this now!
